Introducing Chronos

Chronos is the first release from ZEUS PLAN STUDIO.

Built around a three-arm spinner platform, Chronos features an outward-opening shell mechanism with integrated **4 mm bead channels**, creating significantly more room for customization.

Users can add beads to increase overall weight and alter the tactile feel. Swapping between different bead materials also changes the center of gravity while introducing distinct acoustic feedback during rotation.

The result is a spinner that can be tuned not only visually, but mechanically and sonically as well.

Modular Shell Design

Chronos is engineered around a multi-part construction with an expanding outer shell.

The bead channels allow users to experiment with different materials and weight distributions, creating a wide range of DIY configurations. Changes in bead density and material can noticeably affect rotational balance, inertia, vibration, and sound.

A total of **18 precision-machined components** are required for the complete structure, excluding beads, bearings, and locking screws.

Material Editions

Stainless Steel

Both the main body and shell are made from stainless steel.

The shell features an antiqued blackened finish for a vintage appearance, complemented by brass accents that add depth and contrast.

Zirconium

The zirconium version combines matte and polished finishes to create stronger visual depth and dimensional contrast.

It is paired with silicon nitride beads for a refined tactile and rotational experience.

Two limited configurations are available:

Damascus Steel

Both the main body and shell are crafted from Damascus steel, delivering a highly distinctive layered pattern and substantial hand feel.

Titanium + Cupronickel

The main body is made from titanium alloy and paired with an antiqued cupronickel shell and lock.

This combination balances reduced core weight with a visually warmer outer structure.

Gold-Plated Stainless Steel

This edition uses polished stainless steel throughout, with the shell and outer button ring finished in gold plating.

The result is a striking silver-and-gold two-tone appearance.

Stainless Steel + Damasteel

This configuration combines a polished stainless steel structure with **Swedish Damasteel DS95X** components.

The Damasteel shell and button feature a light acid-etched finish to reveal the layered pattern, while the remaining stainless steel parts are polished for contrast.

About Damasteel DS95X

The Damasteel used in this edition is **DS95X powder-metallurgy austenitic Damascus steel**, often referred to in the EDC and jewelry industries as jewelry-grade Swedish Damasteel.

It is produced by combining 316L and 304L stainless steels through a multi-layer powder-metallurgy forging process.

Unlike martensitic Damascus steels designed primarily for cutting tools, this austenitic material prioritizes:

* Excellent corrosion resistance
* High toughness
* Comfortable skin contact
* Stable long-term appearance
* Refined polish and pattern definition
* Low magnetic response

Its characteristics make it particularly well suited for premium EDC pieces, jewelry, and collectible fidget products.

Important Note

The original full-zirconium configuration has been discontinued.

During testing, the interaction between the zirconium main body and zirconium shell produced unsatisfactory friction and made the shell more difficult to open.

For this reason, the fully zirconium shell-and-lock configuration will no longer be produced. Future zirconium versions will use a revised material combination for improved usability and overall feel.
