Configurable Rotor Fidget
Five Modes · From Resonant Chimes to Ratchet Clicks
CORERING combines smooth rotor movement with adjustable sound and tactile resistance. Change the steel-ball arrangement or spring setup to explore five distinct modes, from lingering metallic tones to firm mechanical clicks.
Five Ways to Play
| Mode | Configuration and Experience |
|---|---|
| Wind Chime | The factory configuration uses eight steel balls in a combination of 3 mm and 4 mm sizes. As the rotor turns, the balls repeatedly strike the base, producing sustained metallic chimes. |
| Hybrid | Remove the 3 mm balls and retain the 4 mm balls. At higher speeds, centrifugal force holds them against the slot walls; as rotation slows, they drop back and tap the base, changing the sound with the speed. |
| Silent | Remove all balls for smooth, quiet rotation. For an additional tabletop effect, tilt the spinning rotor and lightly touch its base to the surface, allowing it to settle gradually. |
| Soft-Bounce | Fit a softer spring to introduce gentle, ratchet-like steps while retaining a little rotational momentum. The result combines defined resistance with a yielding feel. |
| Ratchet | Fit a higher-tension spring for firmer mechanical steps and crisp clicks. Short movements deliver feedback without requiring a full rotation. |
Three Material and Finish Options
| Version | Material | Finish Details |
|---|---|---|
| Silver & Grey | Stainless steel | Polished outer surfaces contrast with recessed areas that retain their sandblasted texture. |
| Silver & Black | Stainless steel | A polished base and cap frame a rotor with a black-plated, stonewashed finish. |
| Heat Coloring | Zirconium | Heat-colored finish with multicolored tones. |
Specifications
The following dimensions apply to all three versions:
- Diameter: 44 mm
- Thickness: 13 mm
Reconfigure the Experience
Removing or rearranging the balls changes the acoustic response, while spring changes introduce different levels of stepped resistance.
The stainless steel versions include a soft-bounce spring in the accessory kit.
Care
Regular tabletop use can leave fine scratches on the base where it contacts the surface.
