Design Inspiration

Since ancient times, legends have told of the **Azure Bird**, a divine creature whose radiant feathers carried the light of the rising sun. At dawn, it would ascend from the eastern horizon, soar through the clouds, and bring sunlight back to the world. Over time, the legend spread across the land, and the Azure Bird came to symbolize the incarnation of the sun—representing light, vitality, hope, and renewal. Each spring, people celebrated its return with festivals, praying for prosperity and good fortune.

Mini Opening-Armor Gyroscope

The **Qingniao · Jing** continues Hope Studio's signature **mini opening-armor gyroscope** design. The stainless steel version weighs approximately **83 g** and consists of **16 components** (excluding screws and bearings), including **10 precision CNC-machined parts**.

The design draws inspiration from the Azure Bird:

The **three large armor plates** represent the bird's beak.
The **magnetic metal disc** on the top symbolizes its eye.
The **three smaller armor plates** represent its claws.

All six independent armor plates are available with **two magnetic strength options**, allowing users to choose their preferred opening and closing feel.

When fully deployed, the layered armor creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadow. The closing action delivers stronger tactile feedback than its predecessor, **Shanfeng Lan**, producing a crisp and satisfying mechanical click.

Different spinning techniques allow the armor plates to open progressively or close in sequence, providing a wide variety of fidgeting experiences.

Dual Opening Modes

The gyroscope features **six expandable armor plates** in total (three large and three small).

Users can choose to:

Open only the three large armor plates, or
Deploy all six plates simultaneously with a stronger spin.

Both opening and closing actions produce a crisp clicking sound. During closing, the three smaller plates retract first, followed by the three larger plates, creating a satisfying layered mechanical sequence.

Artistic Design & Finish

The **Qingniao · Jing** beautifully captures the image of the Azure Bird carrying light from the east. Inspired by traditional Chinese lacquerware craftsmanship, its finish conveys a warm, refined texture with a distinctly Eastern aesthetic.

To accommodate different preferences, the gyroscope includes **two magnetic configurations** for the armor plates, offering extensive opportunities for customization and DIY tuning.
