Design Inspiration

An unexpected and playful idea became the starting point for Snake Mini Flipper.

Earlier this year, we created several product-themed memes based on our existing designs. Interestingly, once the products were given their own expressions, they seemed to develop distinct personalities of their own.

This time, we reversed the process.

Instead of creating memes based on the products, we designed the product from the memes themselves.

The prototype of Snake Mini Flipper was born from two particularly mischievous-looking expressions. What started as a playful visual concept gradually evolved into a fully realized mechanical EDC.

Snake-Inspired Design

Snake Mini Flipper continues the biomorphic design language originally explored on our pry-bar series.

For the first edition, the blade head takes inspiration from the flowing lines of the Kui Snake's head, while completely removing the original tool functionality of the Flipper.

The decorative components were specifically designed around the overall silhouette, functioning visually as the snake's “brain tissue.”

The result is a purely expressive mechanical object that combines organic forms with intricate mechanical detailing.

Highly Modular Construction

The internal components of Snake Mini Flipper have been broken down into an exceptionally detailed modular structure, leaving substantial room for future customization and component replacement.

Both the stop posts and fastening screws feature layered material combinations, allowing users to freely mix and match materials for different configurations.

The entire Flipper can be completely disassembled

 including: Screws, Springs, Balls, Stop posts, Internal components

With a total of 77 individual parts, Snake Mini Flipper currently features the highest number of components among our products of this type.

Expanded Play Modes

We built a tuning fork directly into the design to introduce an additional acoustic element.

A damping groove and tactile detent groove have also been added around the bearing area, allowing the Flipper to be used in a ratchet-style flipping mode.

Prefer the classic Flipper experience?

The mechanism can be freely switched back to a traditional flipping configuration, giving you two distinct ways to play.

Adjustable Silent Mode

Based on feedback from our community, we added a removable O-ring to the stop post.

Installing the O-ring changes the contact characteristics during play and allows the Flipper to switch into a Silent Mode, reducing impact noise for a quieter experience.

Tuning Fork Optimization

During hands-on testing, we found that the tuning fork integrated into the handle did not produce sufficient acoustic resonance.

We are therefore optimizing the tuning fork component before shipment to further enhance its sound output and resonance, ensuring that the acoustic function performs as intended.
